Are Replacement Windows a Good Investment?
Studies show they are one of the best home remodel decisions you can make.
According to a 2005 survey by Remodeling Magazine, a $10,000 window upgrade will increase the sale value of your home by $8,960. That's an 89.6 percent return on investment and among the highest of all remodel projects you can do to your home! Siding replacements stole number one slot for return, with bathroom remodels coming in second.
If you're windows aren't visibly in need of replacement, here are some other indications that it may be time to start looking into new windows.
- Condensation - If condensation or fog builds on your windows on cold days it could be a sign of worn insulation.
- Air - Wind blowing into your home through the closed window. Hold a candle near the window to see if there's a draft.
- Noise - Road noise is as loud inside as out.
