How Do I Know if it's Time to Replace My Windows?
5 Signs that it's time.
Poor windows can cause up to 75% of heat loss during the winter, not to mention uncomfortable drafts, water damage and mold.
Here are 5 tell-tale signs that it's time to replace your windows.
- One or more of your windows develop ice or a frosty glaze on the inside, typically caused by poor ventilation or insufficient insulation.
- When you sit near a window your feel a cold draft in the winter or a warm draft during the summer. This is a clear sign of poor insulation, which significantly increases your energy bills.
- A lit candle held near your window's edge flickers or goes out. It's a good sign that your weather stripping is in need of replacement.
- You have to prop your window open with a stick ? your windows are at the end of their functional life.
- You've tried cleaning the inside and outside of your window, but the fog is still there! That means the window seal has probably failed allowing condensation in between the glass.
